Tasa 790-012 — Modelo 790 Código 012 — Tax Form (police sede)

The official tax form generated on the Policía Nacional sede. The SAME 790-012 form is used for several different government fees — you tick a different 'concepto' (concept) depending on what you're paying for. In the TIE renewal flow you pay it TWICE: once for the renewal authorization (before submitting Mercurio) and again later for the physical TIE card (before the huellas appointment).

How to get it

Generate the form online at https://sede.policia.gob.es/Tasa790_012/, fill in your personal details, pick the correct 'concepto' for what you're paying, print it, then pay at any participating bank (CaixaBank, BBVA, Santander, Sabadell). Some banks also accept payment via app or ATM by scanning the barcode on the form.

How to fill it

The 'concepto' you tick determines what fee you pay. For the TIE renewal authorization (paid before Mercurio): tick the renewal/prórroga concept. For the physical TIE card (paid before huellas after approval): tick 'TIE que documenta la primera concesión de la autorización' (or the renewal-card equivalent). Your name, NIE, and address must match the rest of your file exactly.

1. Open the form

2. Pick the concept (concepto)

The same 790-012 form covers several fees — what you tick is what you pay. TIE renewal authorization (Step 2 of the renewal flow, before Mercurio): tick the prórroga/renewal authorization concept (€17.49 in 2026 on the user's real Santander-paid receipt). First-time TIE card: tick 1.1 (first issuance, ~€16). Renewal TIE card (Step 8/9, after approval): tick the equivalent renewal card concept (~€19). Ignore all the other boxes.

3. Fill IDENTIFICACIÓN — your info

Everything must match your EX-17.

NIF / NIE: On your student visa page in your passport (labeled NIE).
Example: Y1234567X
Apellidos y nombre: Surnames, then first name.
Example: GARCIA LOPEZ, MARIA ISABEL
Pasaporte: Always fill this in.

Common mistakes

— Paying the wrong concept — e.g. ticking the first-issuance card concept when you needed the renewal authorization (Step 2). The form code is the same; the concept makes it the wrong fee.
— Generating only ONE 790-012 for the whole renewal — you need TWO separate ones (renewal authorization before Mercurio, then TIE card after approval) with different concepts and different bank receipts.
— Going to a non-participating bank that refuses to process the payment
— Losing the bank-stamped copy — you cannot get a duplicate easily and you need it for your appointment
— Filling the form on paper instead of generating it from the portal — handwritten 790-012 forms are rejected
— Name/NIE/address not matching the rest of your file — the police will refuse it
